A waterfront inn where every detail is considered — from the morning light on the bay to the linens you'll actually want to sleep in. This is lodging with intention.
About the Inn
Sandy Bottom Inn at Angola by the Bay sits along the water's edge in historic Lewes — a town known for its maritime heritage and unhurried charm. We built this inn for travelers who understand that the best stays aren't about amenities listed on a page. They're about the way a room feels when you walk in. The silence between waves at dusk. The certainty that tomorrow's breakfast will be made with care.
Every room is individually appointed. Every interaction is personal. This isn't a chain. This is a place that chose to be exactly what it is.
Accommodations
Face the water from your bed. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the bay, and the morning light arrives slowly — the way it should.
A separate sitting area, direct garden access, and the kind of quiet that only comes when you're surrounded by mature plantings and still water.
Minimalist by design, generous by feel. Everything you need, nothing you don't — with the bay as your constant companion.
The Experience
Direct access to the bay. Walk the shoreline at dawn. Watch the light change over water that has shaped this town for centuries.
Fewer rooms means more attention. We know our guests by name and remember what they prefer — because we have the time and the reason to.
Lewes has secrets — a tide pool at low tide, a bakery that opens before most, a stretch of beach that belongs to the few who know to look for it.
Local coffee. Linens chosen for weight and breath. Bath products that actually smell like something real. The small things that add up to a good night's sleep.
